Review
"Our Lady of Hope Monastery is home to a cloistered order of nuns in a quiet, small New Mexican town. So when the murdered body of Jane Sanchez, a devout local woman, is found in the parking area just after the sparsely attended early Mass, the entire town is thrown into shock. The crime scene yields few clues and no suspects. It isn't even clear if Sanchez was the actual target or whether the killing was aimed at the monastery itself. The monastery has been undergoing some upheaval of late - including the arrival of a young nun from a different order, Sister Jo, whose exuberance and goodwill are infuriating and invigorating in equal measure - making the murder even more disturbing to the smooth running of the order. So while the local sheriff's office investigates, Sister Agatha decides to do a little digging of her own."
Summary
"Sister Agatha is one of the monastery's externs - those nuns who interact with the outside world on behalf of the rest of the nuns who live behind an enclosure - and she can ask questions in places and of people more effectively than the police. What she uncovers is that Sanchez had more than a few people who were less than enamored with her, though none seemingly mad enough at her to contemplate murder. Before she gets very far in her poking around, however, threats against the monastery - even against Sister Agatha herself - start showing up. With the danger escalating, time is running out for her to uncover the truth behind the murder in the monastery's yard."--BOOK JACKET
