Summary
Little Ella McFadden had a hard start in life. Her father left her to live a new life in Ireland and her mother's new husband doesn't want her in the house. Living with her grandmother they struggle to make do, and every Saturday she waits for a visit from her mother. But one day when she is seven her mother doesn't come. And soon after, her grandmother passes away, leaving her destitute. Taken in by the nuns at the Foundling School for Girls, she finds the new start she needed. But years of strife has left its mark
