Summary
The Gold Coast Bridge, known locally as the Sundale Bridge, spans the Nerang River linking the Gold Coast Highway to the suburbs of Southport and Main Beach. On the ocean side of the bridge, Waterways Drive runs along Broadwater foreshore becoming Seaworld Drive at the intersection. The Southport Yacht Club and Marina is located at the centre of the image, Jack Gordon Park is situated adjacent to club. To the right along Seaworld Drive is Humphrey's Boat Shed and the marina where local fishermen moored trawlers. Main Beach Tourist Park can be seen towards the centre left and the Main Beach Bathing Pavilion is located on the ocean foreshore at centre. On the western side of the bridge James Overell Park is situated top left, adjacent to the park is Gardiner Creek. Sundale Shopping Centre can be seen at the centre of the image and Broadwater Parklands runs along the Marine Parade foreshore. The Southport Bowls Club and Tennis Gold Coast courts can be seen at the corner of Marine Parade and Queen Street, which runs diagonally towards the top edge of the image.
