Duncan Talbot has escaped from the hell of the State prison to settle with Vedder, the man who drove him off his land and caused him to be sent to prison on a false robbery charge. But Duncan has little time. Vedder owns the country, and in addition Duncan is hounded by Mike Attick, a killer who makes his living by collecting reward money. Duncan hoped to enlist the help of his long-time friend Steve Sabin, but when he arrives at the Sabin ranch, he learns Steve is in jail awaiting trial on a trumped-up murder charge, and Vedder is trying to force Steve and his sister Molly off their land. Duncan still needs Steve's help, but first he will have to break Steve out of jail while avoiding Deputy US Marshal Attick
