Summary
Looking to Thrower Drive in Palm BeachThe cyclonic floods of February 1931 created havoc with the coast and caused much damage in the Currumbin Valley. Both approaches to the Currumbin Creek bridge were completely washed away and the bridge had to be considerably rebuilt. The creek cut a new channel on the Palm Beach side necessitating the construction of an additional 100 feet of bridge. Motorists would be forced for a number of months to use the old route over Tallebudgera Hill. (Information taken from: R. Longhurst, From Tallebudgera to the Tweed, 1996)
