Summary
The story of the seventeen men from the Southport area who volunteered and died in the service of their Country and British Empire during World War One. These reconstructed stories are an attempt to honour Southport's 'Great Hearted Men' and their separate journeys from enlistment to their deaths on foreign shores, compiled using archival information sourced from war records held jointly between the Australian War Museum and the National Archives of Australia and Great Britain. Also includes information on the history of the Southport War Memorial and Anzac Park
