Summary
The steamer was towed from the Brisbane River where it had been left to rust on the south bank to The Spit by the Gold Coast City Council. Maid of Sker restoration group was formed in 1976 and headed by the Albert Shire Council, Rotary and Lions and lobbied to restore the boat and have it stand in Bischoff Park, Nerang not far from where the paddle steamer would berth on its trips between Brisbane and Nerang in the years between 1890 and the 1930s
