This image shows completed groundworks in prepartion for the construction of the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. Work on Conrad Jupiters Casino, now located to the right of the shopping centre on Broadbeach Island, has not yet commenced. Further construction of canal developments are in progress towards the top of the image. The bridges connecting Surfers Avenue with Mermaid Island can be seen at centre left. Broadbeach Primary School is located towards the lower centre. This image was taken prior to the construction of Hooker Boulevard, which now intersects with Margaret Avenue, which borders the primary school on the northern side. Sunshine Boulevard can be seen running along behind the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre groundworks, leading to the bridge that crosses the canal into Miami Keys. The Gold Coast Highway runs across the centre of the image and Old Burleigh Road runs along the foreshore until the 'S' bend where it changes into Hedges Avenue.
