They are six children and they seemed to be flying away from everything they had ever known: school, home, mums and dads, friends, relations, and everything else that had added up to be their lives. It was the strangest feeling, as though they had shut a door behind them and stepped into emptiness. As though they had climbed into this aeroplane ages ago and had been in it ever since. As though, in some way, there had been a trick of time and they were its captives
