Summary
The Olympic Series is a captivating six chapter treasure trove of the most enduring, dramatic and historical memories in Olympic Games History. The series entrenches into documentaries and vignettes grouped by theme and sport, from the most successful athletes to the most unlikely of heroes. Looking at the history of the modern Games this series will follow the events which dominated this sporting event throughout history. GOLDEN MOMENTS: Chapter 1 is a collection of 2.5 minute vignettes of Golden Moments from the greatest and most inspiring and captivating moments that capture the true spirit of the Olympic Games from Athens 1896 to Beijing 2008. OLYMPIC SPORTS: Chapter 2 tells the story and development of an individual sport throughout the history of the Olympic Games, including interviews with current champions Pieter Van Den Hoogenband and Michael Phelps. THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT: Chapter 3 explores the historical context of the Games, taking a look back at the original competition and discussing how it has changed and developed since its inception. From the very first Ancient Games to the initial concept of Pierre de Coubertin, these programmes capture how sports have evolved as a result, with a strengthening spirit felt around the globe. OLYMPIC STARS: Chapter 4 recalls the stars of previous Olympic Games, featuring the highlights and most memorable moments from the greatest sporting competition on the planet. Including rare interviews and a mix of new and updated footage, these programmes give a rounded view of the greatest moments of Olympic Games and the Olympic Winter Games in a series of four 52 minute programmes. OLYMPIC DOCUMENTARIES: In 6 programmes, Chapter 5 traces the history and evolution of the Games from when women were forbidden to compete up until the Centennial Games in Atlanta where more than 3,500 women competed. This phenomenal chapter follows the ups and downs and struggles that were experienced throughout time up until todays modern Olympic Games.
