"The building was dedicated on 30 January 1960 by the Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of Queensland, Most Wor. Bro. H B Milliner. The building cost 20,000 and replaces the wooden Temple which has served Southport since 1906.."--The South Coast Bulletin 3 February 1960. The wooden building this one replaced can be seen at the rear of the new building
