Summary
Federation is an epic tale about the birth of a nation. It's a tale of winners and losers, of great debates that unified the country, of struggle - not just to make an Australian nation, but to create an Australian democracy. Episode 1 covers the vision of Sir Henry Parkes, and early attempts to federate the colonies and create one nation. In episode 2 the quest for federation is revived after floundering in the depths of the 1890s depression. In episode 3 the "men with beards" make another bid to bring the colonies together in 1897. Unification seems within reach but some colonies still hold out for a better deal
