Main title
Lennons Broadbeach Hotel, Broadbeach, Queensland
Summary
The main hotel block was completed on 6 December 1956, and was the tallest building then on the Gold Coast. While the Lennon's Broadbeach Hotel was a luxury hotel for its day, it was not a financial success. The hotel was taken over by Federal Hotels Ltd in 1961. Coloured panels of masonite were installed to attract younger hoildaymakers. This was unsuccessful and Queensland Breweries purchased the hotel. In 1965 Chevron Queensland leased and operated the hotel from Queensland Breweries until it became the Broadbeach International. The hotel was demolished in 1987 to make way for a 31-storey international hotel tower block, a tavern, a mall and a shopping complex, linked to Jupiters Casino by monorail.
