Summary
25 years ago in Managua, Nicaragua, Pedro Joaquín Chamorro (head of the newspaper 'La Prensa' and principal opposer of the Somoza dictatorship) was killed. This incident sparked off a wave of popular uprisings and protests against the dictator. In July of that year the left wing party, the Sandanista Front entered the capital to overthrow Samoza. A civil war started and in 1990 when peace was finally declared there were more than 40.000 people dead either from the war or the Somoza dictatorship. This documentary talks about the history of Nicaragua but also focuses on the poor social and economic conditions of the country today. Includes an interview with Ernesto Cardenal
