This image shows early canal development in Runaway Bay. Intersecting with Poinsettia Avenue, Bayview Street runs diagonally through the centre of the image from the bottom left. Runaway Bay Shopping Village is situated itowards the top centre right, further groundworks to the area are being completed. The area above the shopping centre was to undergo further canal development. Below the shopping centre in the image is an area unofficially used as a dumping ground, now part of the extensive Runaway Bay Sporting Complex. Further canal construction is also being undertaken in the area below.
