Summary
Examines the recent discovery of 800 short films from the Edwardian Age, made by pioneering film-makers Sagar Mitchell and James Kenyon. Rescued after lying hidden in a cellar for over 80 years and restored to their original clarity, they throw new light on Britain at work and play before the First World War : Programme 1 : shows life in the new cities as well cotton mills and factories ----- Programme 2 : shows the leisure pursuits of the age, from holidays in Blackpool to the first ever film of Manchester Utd ----- Programme 3 : shows the first ever crime reconstruction film - the arrest of an infamous bank embezzler, plus a move into fiction that saw them move to the USA
