Principal, Miss Davenport. Established in 1883. The Church of England purchased the school in 1912 and changed the name to St.Hilda's.The picture comes from and advertisement for the school which appeared in a booklet on Southport and District in the early 1900s. The advertisement claimed the pupils receive a thorough English education, including, besides the usual studies, Latin, Science, Shorthand, Book-keeping, Class Singing, Drawing, Drill (Indian Clubs, Poles, Dumb Bells), Needlework of every kind, Cooking and Household Management. The pupils have the most careful moral and religious instruction and supervision, with the best food and household arrangements. The invigorating climate of Southport, with its sea-bathing, will be found of the greatest importance in promoting the health of young girls engaged in study
