Summary
"The Gold Coast City Council will this week give new meaning to the term teacher's pet. On Thursday May 19, teachers at the Guardian Angels Primary School at Ashmore will not only have students in their classes, they will also be teaching dogs. From 9.30am, the friendly canines will be swapping their kennels for classrooms to help the council teach students about caring for their animal friends. The council is supported by the RSPCA, Animal Protection and Welfare League, Gold Coast Dog Obedience Club and a local vet who will all be on hand on the day. The program will involve teaching the animals obedience, how to integrate with a family and how to be a companion. It will also involve teaching the students how to properly care for and train their animals. The Educating Dogs Program is part of the Gold Coast City Council's Active Community Awareness Program."--Media release statement with photograph
