"Bob Avery (1907-1988) moved to the Gold Coast in 1953 and purchased Hart Studios, Southport, Queensland."--Information received with photographsIt was not until 1936 that a milk processing factory, South Coast Dairy Pty Ltd was established by the Davies family. The first recorded correspondence from the SCD Suppliers Association to purchase the Company was a letter received by the Directors on 25th August 1946. The letter from Alan Hollindale of Upper Coomera asked the directors to consider the disposal ofthe Company's interests. The following Director's meeting tabled the letter from Mr Hollindale. Minutes from subsequent Directors' meetings make no reference to the possible sale of South Coast Dairy Pty ltd. On the 19th June 1947 it was moved and seconded that three members of the South Coast Dairy Suppliers' Association be appointed to the Board of Directors of South Coast Cairy Pty Ltd. In July 1947 the inaugural meeting of South Coast Co-operative Dairy Association Ltd was held at the Diggers' Hall, Scarborough Street, Southport. The first Annual General Meeting of Shareholders was held on 17th November 1947. This meeting was attended by 42 shareholders. Mr J Chisholm was nominated as Chairman, Mr J Byren as Deputy Chairman and incumbents Board Members were re-elected. Mr J Davies tendered his resignation from the Co-operative. Mr Alan Hollindale was appointed as temporary Manager for a period of three months and in April 1948 was appointed Managing Director.--Information sourced from Dairyfields The First 50 years 1947-1997
