The family residence on Ferny Avenue was called 'Paradisa' and later developed by Bernie Esley as the Ski Lodge Motel. Jim Cavil is known as the man who brought tourism to the Gold Coast. He built the Surfers Paradise Hotel and Zoo. Several members of the family were champion swimmers. Cav's Steakhouse (restaurant) is currently (2010) operated by Richard Cavill, Jim Cavill's great grandson
