Summary
"Church of England Soliders' Rest House at Coolangatta, Point Danger. The home has been much appreciated by convalescent soldiers, many of whom find health and strength within its hospitable walls."--Caption on photographConstruction of the rest home commenced in 1917 by the Church of England. The building was funded by the Church Soldiers Help Society which received local support and welcomed many wounded and recuperating servicemen returned from the First World War. It was officially opened in 1918 by Lady Morgan. The site became St George's Holiday House for returned soldiers in later conflicts.
