Summary
Over the past 35 years the French-Swiss photographer Hélène Binet has travelled the world to photograph historic and contemporary buildings as well as projects in the making, creating some of the most exquisite architectural images of our time. She has worked closely with, among others, Zaha Hadid RA, Daniel Libeskind Hon RA and Peter Zumthor Hon RA, who have all turned to her to interpret their work. Using only analogue techniques, Binet's photographs are both a representation and a discovery of significant works of architecture that challenge the conventions of their time. In this selection of some 90 of her photographs - ranging from the Baroque London churches of Nicholas Hawksmoor and the Jantar Mantar Observatory in Jaipur to projects by Le Corbusier, Gottfried Böhm and Sigurd Lewerentz as well as Hadid, Libeskind and Zumthor - Binet's work is revealed in all its subtlety and quiet sensitivity." -- back cover
