Includes footage of a final journey of the Southport Express on the South Coast Line in June 1964 from Brisbane to the Gold Coast; through Beenleigh, Coomera, Helensvale, Ernest Junction, Nerang, Molendinar and Southport, before the line was closed permanentlyIn this, the third instalment we open our archives wide to take you back to yesteryear. This compilation from rare archival railway film collections shows the weird and wonderful, the gone but not forgotten, and the development of railway infrastructure that remains today. On the original South Coast railway where a tour to Nerang and Southport is seen at Beenleigh, Coomera, Helensvale, Ernest Junction, Nerang, Molendinar and Southport. Numerous trains are seen hauled by early diesel locomotives throughout the state starting in North Queensland at Cairns. A retrospective look at the Sunlander shows the many different forms of motive power the iconic train has utilised over the years, including testing of its future replacement. Delivery of first Midlander train is seen. There is a tour to Pinkenba and curious paint schemes on the Shorncliffe line. The original Beenleigh line is shown prior to deviation work and an extensive parade of locomotives takes place at Roma Street in the 70s. There are trains at Bowen Hills, Tennyson, Blackbutt, and a tour to Gympie with a Garratt 1096 where we see long-closed stations. At South Johnston mill we see shunting operations before travelling aboard the Gulflander. More railmotor scenes follow with trips to Glenmorgan, Wandoan and the Bell Branch and diesels on the Wallangarra branch and Nikenbah Branch. The Thangool branch is shown, the Millmerran Branch, Mount Morgan and the Brisbane Valley branch. Plus suburban tours and unusual operations
