Summary
Brussels, 1915. A beautiful young Belgian woman, Louise, is being pursued by the Germans when she meets Ned Scott, a British army major also trying to flee. He is badly injured, and the unlikely pair find themselves at a hospital run by the famous Edith Cavell, who offers them both refuge. However no one is safe under the terrifying shadow of German occupation. As Louise finds herself falling for the major, details of her true identity emerge, causing the Germans to pursue her even more relentlessly. Meanwhile the Major is torn between his desire to stand by the brave, heroic Edith and the knowledge that he must escape. Observed wherever they go, is there anyone these three people can trust?
