Summary
Arthur Freeman was born in England in 1875 and arrived in Australia with his parents. He moved to Fiji as a young man and operated as a buyer and shipper of bananas. He married Frederica Carter in Fiji and two daughters, Marie and Jane were born in Suva. On returning to Australia he settled in Queensland in 1915 with his family and established a banana plantation, 'Viria' located on Tomewin Mountain Road, Currumbin Valley. He employed workers from the South Sea Islands. He was elected as an Alderman to the Southport Town Council from 1936 to 1939
