Summary

• The precinct plan outlines how Council will work with project partners to deliver a well-planned and well-managed Chinatown to add to our city's economic and cultural credentials. The initial design and construction works will be completed in three stages over the next 12 months. The area will be made into a pedestrian friendly environment by slowing traffic to 30 km/h and making part of Young Street one way. This work is being funded by Council and local property owners. Cultural embellishments, including street furniture, decorative lighting, signage and public art will be added, reflecting Asian culture, yet inspired by the Gold Coast's unique character and physical qualities
