Summary
In the face of today's new Asian giants, the Japanese post-war model, which was founded on growth, full employment, social advancement and technical innovation, appears to be stumbling. As the Japanese prepare to celebrate the New Year, three families, in three different regions, in three different social settings, open their doors to us. One of them, employed in the automobile industry, lives in Fujinomiya at the foot of the majestic Mount Fuji; the second, farmers who live in the north where the source of the country's finest rice is found and the third lives in Fukuoka, the good life city, in the south, across the water from Korea. Through their daily experiences emerges a remarkable portrait of the Japan of today
