Summary
Dux anchorage and recreation clubhouse was established by the members of the Southport Yacht Club from 1972 and officially opened on 25 July 1982. The site had been used for minerals mining and the club lobbied the State government for leases at what had been known as Dux Gutter. One lease on the southern of three granted was taken up by TSS, the other two by the yacht club. The builders of the clubhouse were Rob Head and Alwyn Bowman with architect Rafel Buldrini. All volunteered their services. Joe Rimington was the first caretaker. The first committee was: A Baumann, A Roots, G.
