Summary
When he's evacuated to Devon, Alfie can't believe his luck. The war seems a million miles away, and living with kind Auntie Bell on her farm, he's happier than he's ever been. He even makes a friend, a boy called Smidge. But Smidge's life is cloaked in mystery, somehow connected to the Midwinter Burning and thie ancient clifftop stones.
