Summary
It's the scene of one of the greatest & most tragic human exploration stories of all time: when Amundsen & Scott raced each other to be first at the South Pole, neither knew one team would triumph while the other would die in a lonely, brutal world. A hundred years later, Australian adventurers, James Castrission & Justin Jones, dare to not only tackle the perilous journey across Antarctica to the South Pole and return, but to do it completely unassisted - no sled dogs, no wind kites, just two men dragging their food, their shelter & themselves across 1140 kilometers of barren ice. And back again. Many have tried. All have failed. After years of planning & preparation, Cas & Jonesy arrive to tackle one of the last great Antarctic odysseys, but discover an eerie similarity to Captain Scott's epic quest: there's a Norwegian on the ice. He's more experienced, he's tackling the exact same record & he has a head start. As they battle frostbite, hypothermia, crevasses & starvation over three months of torture in the harshest place on Earth, Cas & Jonesy discover their limits, the nature of sportsmanship & the boundaries of the human spirit
