This is a memoir about childhood abuse, mental illness and resilience. The importance of asking for help and being supported by mental health professionals. Living with post-traumatic stress, schizophrenia and other mental illnesses and discovering the best medicine in the world: laughter. Joan Sammon's memoir includes becoming part of the gay community, working as a motorbike courier, being institutionalised. It includes poems and descriptions of mental illness that she wrote at different times throughout her life. She has self-published this memoir with the aim of helping other people suffering mental illnesses, or who are suffering from memories of childhood abuse, so they feel less alone, and find the strength to survive
