- Tradition, classical music and a party atmosphere come together to make the Last Night of the BBC Proms a unique and special occasion. This 2011 performance is no exception, as conductor Edward Gardner leads the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Chorus and guests through a superb programme of Maxwell Davies, Bartk, Wagner, Liszt, Chopin, Grainger, Britten, Rodgers & Hammerstein and the time-honoured Last Night favourites. Susan Bullocks moving performance of Wagners great Immolation Scene and superstar pianist Lang Langs endition of Liszts dazzling Piano Concerto No. 1 are among the highlights. Then, as usual, the party gets into full swing as Bullock returns to lead the sing-along and the traditional rousing finale. AS SEEN ON ABC1
